Letter: Lifelong resident backs Measure Q

As a lifelong resident of Davis, I’ve seen firsthand some of the things that make our community special — the parks where our children play, the streets and bike paths that take them to and from school, and the first responders who answer the call in our moments of need. These aren’t just city services; they are the lifeblood of our community. They shaped my life growing up, and now, as a father of three young children, they are shaping the lives of my own family.

Measure Q is more than a vote on taxes; it’s a vote for the future of Davis. Our parks are not just places to visit — they are sanctuaries where families, like mine, gather to connect, play, and find respite. These spaces foster the bonds that hold our community together, and Measure Q will ensure they remain vibrant and well-maintained.

Our first responders — the firefighters and police officers who stand ready to protect us — deserve the resources and support to continue keeping Davis safe. Measure Q will provide the necessary funding to ensure they can do their jobs with excellence.

At this moment, we have the opportunity to invest in the Davis we love, securing it for the next generation. I urge you to join me in voting Yes on Measure Q, to protect our parks, our public safety, and the values that make Davis home.

Davis City Councilmember and former Davis Mayor
